Carl Bolm, CSP, of BSR Services in St. Louis, MO, was honored for his vast service to those in his community and around the world.

Each November, Bolm and his staff sell special edition newspapers for the nonprofit organization, Old Newsboys. Money raised benefits various children’s charities. Since 2009, Bolm has served on the Old Newsboys board of directors, supporting its strategic planning process and serving on the allocations committee to ensure the funds are distributed where they will have the biggest impact.

In recognition of Bolm’s dedication, BOSS Snowplows adn SIMA donated $1,500 on his behalf to Old Newsboys.

“I selected this organization because, for me, it’s all about helping under privileged children who lack the basic necessities. The simple pleasures – everything from toothpaste and toothbrushes to underwear and school backpacks – are taken for granted by most of us. The Old Newsboys organization provides the support these children need that can change their lives both today and in the future,” Bolm says.

In addition to his work with Old Newsboys, Bolm has traveled to Mexico to build homes through Youth With A Mission. He also offers winery event space and operational support or donations to fundraisers for the TREE House of Greater St. Louis, which helps individuals with disabilities and their families, and the Young Leader Board. He hosts battleground mud run competitions, with proceeds benefiting Operation Food Search. Bolm and his wife also spend Christmas Eve distributing food and clothing to the homeless.

“I am truly honored, genuinely humbled and extremely appreciative of the recent recognition by SIMA as this year’s Philanthropic Leadership Award recipient. My father instilled the gift of giving in me at a young age, focusing on the fact that you never look down on people unless you are giving them a hand up. He is the reason remained passionate about helping those who are less fortunate throughout my entire life. Thank you are for selecting me to receive this very awe-inspiring award.”
